Rennie Pilgrem- OMG
Wow- I was thoroughly impressed- I went to check out Rennie Pilgrem last night at the local techno evening- Plastic. Needless to say, I did get a chance to dance and sweat my ass off! Performing as a DJ, Rennie didn't pull of any amazing feats, pretty standard so far as DJ's go- but the track selection was off the hook! Being the for founder of the New School breaks revolution, Rennie had quite a few bangin' tracks in his record bag/ cd book. One of particular note was a stunning breakbeat rendition of The Beastie Boys- "Fight for Your Right (to party)", I can only assume that it was Rennie's own mix, as I've never heard it before.
By the end of his two hour set, I was soaking wet from sweating tea whole time, but definitely felt great. In the past I would get pretty worn down when I went out dancing, and didn't really have too much stamina. With the recent exercising and bike riding, I definitely noticed a big difference.
Rob came out with Kristin and I, and we sure had a blast. I wasn't sure if Kristin would dig the breakbeats, but she looked to be enjoying herself. I know who can't stand the four to the floor beat, and I can see where she's coming from- techno is kind of like country music, either you love it or you hate it. Well enough for now- check out some of those cool links down there-
